Brief School Year Summaries, 1956 - 1961
Class History - Room [missing]
September 6, 1956 began a new school year for all of us here at St. Norbert's. We were assigned to room 3 and Mrs. Labadie was our teacher. Soon, however, Sister Rita Mary was assigned us but not for long. In a short while, we met with the happy-go-lucky Sister Margaret Eugene. That year, Sister Kistler, Claudia Seitz and Merry Houle were Angels for the First Communicants. June 11, 1957 ended our fun-filled school year.
September of 1957 found us in room 3 with Sister Ann Michaeleen as our homeroom teacher. She taught us Religion and English. Sister Clare Cecile taught us Arithmetic and Phonics. Sister John Christine had us for History and Reading.
We returned from summer vacation in September, 1958. Sister John Christine was to be our homeroom teacher. She had us for History and Reading. Sister Clare Cecile taught us Arithmetic and Phonics. Sister Marietta taught Religion, Spelling, Music and Miss Filiatraut had us for English and Art.
After almost 3 months of summer fun, we eagerly awaited the opening of another school year. We started our sixth grade year in September 1959. After High Mass we walked the now well-known path to our school. This year was to find us with Mrs. Lewis in room 9. She taught us all of our subjects that year.
We returned to St. Norbert's to begin our fifth year on September 6, 1960. We gathered in room 9, the room we had held the previous year. Later that morning we were transferred to room 10. Here Sister John Christine would teach us for the coming year.
September 5, 1961 was the date of another school year. We met our new teacher, Mr. Clement. He taught us all our subjects except for Music and Art. Sister Helen Jude taught these subjects.
We were privileged to have star-player and co-captain Peter Doren in our class. Although small in number, we managed to have a few more of the best football players, Raymond Bihun, Daniel York, and Michael Daly. Thanks to the brilliant planning and work of Mr. Coil, we lost only two games and ended up in second place. We began our Missionary Activities a little late this year, however we made great progress in adoption six pagan babies in less than three months.
We are anxiously looking forward to our graduation day which will find all sixteen of us ready to accept the responsibilities of our High School duties.
